Research Engineer
IRG_DISTAP_2024_001
Project Overview
The research engineer will join an interdisciplinary team of chemists, engineers and plant biologists in the development of novel nano-sensors and novel photonic instrumentation for real-time measurement of plant metabolites. These novel tools enables optimal crop production and rapid development of plants suitable for high-density farming and revolutionalizes urban farming strategies. We are in commercialization phase for high TRL technologies. Team is also working in business development and scaling up of the nanosensor technology.
Responsibilities
The research engineer should be able to work independently with portable photonic instrumentation like Raman spectrometers or fluorescence spectrometers. He/She should also be able to understand optical concepts of confocality and multivariate spectral data processing. Other responsibilities will be to learn nanoparticle characterization skills to screen and characterize potential nanosensor candidates for plant hormone detection. Further, he/she will also help in design and production of nanosensors embedded within films/hydrogel matrix to aid in the sensor chip prototype testing. Working with multidisciplinary and multicultural team is required.
Requirements
- Masters degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science
- Experience in plant disease mitigation or other related agricultural science area
- Experience with nanosensors and their applications
- Experience in working with multidisciplinary and multicultural scientific teams
- Experience in a startup company or industrial experience in marketing or business development
- Experience in Raman spectroscopy, Confocal fluorescence microscopy, portable Raman spectroscopy
- Experience in MATLAB and spectral data processing using AI and machine learning algorithms.
